STMicroelectronics was one of the first global industrial companies to recognize the importance of environmental responsibility and, over the past 15 years, the Company’s sites have received more than 100 awards for excellence in all areas of Corporate Responsibility, from quality and product responsibility to corporate governance, social issues, employee health and safety, and environmental protection. Our approach to sustainability is set out at a high level in ST’s Principles for Sustainable Excellence, and our performance is reported in detail in its annual Sustainability Report.
Our Sustainability Mission is to be recognized as world leader in innovation for sustainable development through excellence in our people, our products, theenvironment and the community.
Employees are ST’s primary stakeholders and are fundamental to the success of our company. Ensuring their health, safety and wellbeing and providing them with opportunities to grow, develop and innovate are our key priorities. Our approach to respecting our employees’ human rights is founded on international standards whilst taking into account the local and regional cultural differences and values of our employees. We are committed to continuously improving labor standards and sharing best practice across our operations.
We are continually looking for ways to create high-quality, innovative, eco-designed and responsible products that help improve the quality of life of final customers. Our products are manufactured using advanced technologies and processes to ensure we use the least amount of electricity, water and chemicals possible. Many of our products help address important global challenges such as reducing energy consumption, improving security and making healthcare more effective, affordable and accessible.
We have adopted a rigorous approach to managing our operations in a way that minimizes our impact on the environment. Over the last 15 years we have significantly reduced our electricity, water, chemical, waste and greenhouse gases emissions thanks to our ‘3-Rs’ approach: reduce, reuse, recycle. We are also looking ahead to try and future proof our operations against some of the most pressing global challenges, such as water scarcity, (water risk and opportunities assessment conducted at sites) and global warming (offsetting our remaining direct emissions through reforestation programs).
We are strongly committed to creating value for our stakeholders through constructive, transparent engagement and collaboration. The work of the ST Foundation is just one of the ways in which we contribute to social development in the communities where we operate.
