The ST7DALI-EVAL provides a complete evaluation
and demonstration platform for the on-chip lighting control
features of the ST7DALI. ST7DALI devices integrate the DALI
Communication Module (DCM) for serial communication with the
controllable electronic ballasts, which provide the required
starting voltage and operating current for fluorescent, mercury
and other electric-discharge lamps. The DCM uses the DALI
(Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) communications standard
(IEC standard) based on the bi-phase Manchester asynchronous
serial data format.
To help developers get started implementing
the ST7DALI for control of lighting networks, the ST7DALI-EVAL
provides a complete software/hardware application for networking
up to 64 ST7DALI-based lighting control slave boards and testing
the various DALI lighting control commands from an easy-to-use,
PC-based software interface. When developers are ready to
create their own applications, the kit serves as a reference
design for a DALI gateway topology.
