Carlo Ferro is Executive Vice President of STMicroelectronics, in charge of Corporate Projects. Ferro served as our Chief Financial Officer from May 2003 until February 20, 2012, at which time he was temporarily assigned to ST-Ericsson to assume the position of its Chief Operating Officer.

During his tenure as our Chief Financial Officer, Ferro’s responsibilities have been extended to include the Company’s Investor Relations (since 2005), Corporate Treasury (since 2006), Corporate Communication and Infrastructures & Services (since 2011). Ferro has been a member of ST’s Corporate Strategic Committee and he sat on the Board of Directors and chaired the Audit Committee of ST-Ericsson SA, the 50/50 joint venture focusing on platforms for mobile applications. Ferro has also been a member of the Board of Directors of ST’s affiliates in Singapore, Japan, France and Italy.

From 1992 to 1996, Ferro gained extensive experience in Planning and Control, Corporate Finance and M&A at Finmeccanica, the leading Italian high-tech engineering and manufacturing group and a former shareholder of STMicroelectronics. Over the next three years he held executive positions for Elsag Bailey Process Automation NV, a global leader in process control listed at NYSE, first as Vice President for Strategic Planning, and later as Vice President for Planning and Control. In 1999, Ferro joined ST as Group Vice President Corporate Finance, overseeing finance and accounting for all the Company’s worldwide affiliates, tax planning, internal control, internal audit, and finance for M&A. In 2002, he became Deputy CFO, and was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in 2003. He has been Chairman of Incard SA and sole Managing Director of ST Service Srl in prior years.

Carlo Ferro, a Swiss and Italian citizen, was born in Savona, Italy, in 1961 and graduated in Business and Economics from the LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome, where he served as a professor of Planning and Control until 1996 and is now an associate professor of Finance. He is a Certified Public Accountant in Italy.
