ST7 - 8-bit Microcontrollers - ST7MC

ST7MC : MCU with three-phase induction and permanent magnet brushless motor cells. The ST7MC family is built around an industry-standard 8-bit core. All devices feature standard MCU peripherals, and ST's on-chip motor control peripheral, the Motor Control Cell, which consists mainly of a three-phase Pulse Width Modulator multiplexed on six high-sink outputs, with a highly flexible Back EMF (BEMF) zero-crossing detector and co-processor unit for the sensorless control of permanent magnet Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) motors. ST's patented 'three resistors' sensorless control method - in conjunction with on-chip comparators, op-amp - provides the lowest possible system cost and the highest system integration for BLDC motor control.

Tools

Starter Kit and Tools: The hardware platform consists of a sensorless BLDC blower; an inverter and control board; a high voltage isolation board; and a SofTec1 inDART-STX debugger/programmer, with USB interface, for communication, programming and debugging. The complete system is intended to be connected to a PC, but can also be operated in standalone mode. The software includes a Graphical User Interface (GUI) and a set of C software libraries. The software libraries are edited automatically and the MCU's Flash memory is programmed. The motor can then be started and the parameters modified on-the-fly. The process is short and efficient, and can be repeated many times and with any type of BLDC or induction motor.
A fully-featured ST7MDT50-EMU3 emualtor is also available for project finalization. The ST7MC Motor Control Starter-Kit (ST7MC-KIT/BLDC includes a sensor/sensorless BLDC blower - in addition, an 800W three-phase induction motor (ST7MC-MOT/IND) can be ordered separately. These tools are available from ST, ST distributors, or from SofTec (www.softecmicro.com).
