Automotive Serial EEPROM

ST’s automotive serial EEPROM portfolio offers a complete range of products designed for high reliability, qualified according to AEC-Q100 standards and PPAP compliant. Automotive EEPROM products are tested with a high reliability certified flow (HRCF) in order to meet highest quality requirements for automotive and other high reliability applications.

Automotive products are available in the 3 standard serial bus types:

  • SPI (M95 series) is a 4-wire robust interface with densities ranging from 1 Kbit to 1 Mbit. This is the preferred bus for all automotive applications.
  • I²C (M24 series) is a simple 2-wire open-drain interface with densities ranging from 2 Kbits to 1 Mbit. The I²C bus is typically used for body and multimedia applications.
  • Microwire (M93 series) is a 4- or 3-wire interface limited to a density of 16 Kbits. Many new projects are switching to the SPI bus.

With qualification of ST's new advanced process, our automotive serial EEPROM portfolio is now being extended with new products featuring:

  • operating temperatures from -40 to +145 °C for package products and over +150 °C upon request for bare die products
  • 3 package forms SO8N, TSSOP8 and MLP8 2X3. All 3 packages are RoHS and halogen-free compliant
  • extended power supply range from 1.8 to 5.5 V
  • high clock frequency up to 20 MHz for SPI, 1 MHz for I²C
  • short programming time of 4 ms
  • high cycling endurance with up to 4 Mcycles at 25 °C and data retention of over 100 years
  • additional lockable EEPROM page used for software device identification and safer data storage

These new products are identified with an A letter before the temperature suffix (-A125 or -A145).
