LIVING OUR SOCIAL POLICY
We are as disciplined to our social policy as we are to our business strategies, with a clear understanding that we do business in societies, not markets. We work for our share-holders, but we also feel a natural sense of responsibility to our stakeholders and the society around us. We have always been in business for the long-term, and we know those companies that demonstrate proper respect for the rest of society will always ultimately be rewarded in the marketplace. In fact, one of the important strengths of our global approach to managing our business is that it inherently promotes strong adherence to the values of the local societies where we do business. HEALTH AND SAFETY. Social responsibility begins with our own employees. We are committed to consistently earning recognition as best-in- class in our occupational health and safety performance. Motivated by this goal, we launched a program aimed at achieving Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) manage-ment system validation under OHSAS 18001 international standards at all manufacturing sites, harmonizing local OH&S management systems and incorporating best practices. MINIMIZING THE DIGITAL DIVIDE. As a leading technology company, we know we have a strong obligation to help ensure that we help cultivate technological development worldwide, not just in the most economically advantaged nations and communities. Our Company contributes to the United Nations Initiative of creating a task force with the aim of helping reduce the digital divide that is separating those who have access to modern digital technologies from those who have not.
