"Telecom is strategically important to ST and our overall strength in this area will be further reinforced by the addition of Johan Danneels, with his vast experience in DSL and telecom markets," said Aldo Romano, Corporate Vice President and General Manager of ST's Telecom, Peripherals and Automotive Groups.

In addition to the recruitment of Danneels, the recent acquisition of Alcatel Microelectronics brings a large number of experienced engineers to ST and important know-how in DSL and Bluetooth technologies, significantly enhancing the company's overall capabilities to compete in the telecommunications arena.

"ST is one of the world's leading semiconductor vendors and has a substantial portfolio of leading-edge technologies and a world-class manufacturing infrastructure.
