STMicroelectronics Announces the Establishment of the Corporate Executive Committee | ||
|
Geneva, January 24, 2005 - STMicroelectronics (NYSE:STM) announced the formation of the Corporate Executive Committee, comprised of five corporate executives, in addition to the COO, and the CEO. The roles of the Committee, which represent all the functions of the organization, include corporate policy making, coordination of the strategies of individual corporate functions, and driving major cross-functional programs. The establishment of the Committee is a new step forward in ST's ongoing succession plan announced on March 15, 2004, subject to approval by the Company's shareholders at the 2005 Annual General Meeting. Pasquale Pistorio - ST's President and CEO, who will retire from his present position in May 2005 - commented: "I believe the newly formed Committee will play a key role in fulfilling the Company's long-term vision of matching the market and technology evolution, while preserving the continuity of ST's corporate values". Executive Committee bio data: Carlo Bozotti was born near Milan, Italy, in 1952. He graduated in Electronic Engineering at the University of Pavia. After having prepared his graduation thesis with experimental work at SGS-ATES, he joined the company in 1977. With the approval of the Company's Supervisory Board, Bozotti has been designated to become President and CEO after the retirement of Pasquale Pistorio in 2005. Alain Dutheil was born in Martigues, France, in 1945. He is an Engineering graduate from the Ecole Superieure d'Ingenieurs of Marseilles. Dutheil joined Thomson Semiconducteurs in 1983 as Plant Manager of its Aix-en-Provence plant in France. After the Annual General Meeting in 2005, Dutheil will take on the newly created position of Chief Operating Officer. Laurent Bosson was born in Mieussy, France, in 1942. He graduated in chemistry and physics from the University of Dijon. In 1985, Bosson joined SGS Microelettronica as General Manager of its Rennes manufacturing plant. Bosson is now Executive Vice President, Front-End Technology and Manufacturing. Andrea Cuomo was born in Milan, Italy, in 1954. He graduated from the Milan Politecnico in Nuclear Sciences. He joined SGS in 1983. Cuomo is now Executive Vice President, Strategic Planning and Advanced System Technology. Carlo Ferro was born in Savona, Italy, in 1961. He graduated in Business and Economics from the LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome. Ferro was hired by STMicroelectronics in June 1999 as Group Vice President Corporate Finance. He is now Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer. Philippe Geyres was born in Paris, France in 1952 and graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique of Paris. He joined Thomson Semiconducteurs as Director of its Bipolar Integrated Circuits Division in 1983. Geyres is now Executive Vice President, Home, Personal, and Communication Sector. Enrico Villa was born near Milan, Italy, in 1941. After a first degree in Electrical Engineering, he also graduated in Business Administration from Università Cattolica in Milan.
