VN751 High-Side Driver
Single Channel HSD in VIPower® MO-3 Technology

VN751 Product Page

The VN751 is a new addition to ST’s Intelligent Power Switches (IPS) catalog. This fully protected single switch, high-side-driver has a typical RDS(on) of 60mW at 25°C.
The VN751 switch has been designed using the third version of ST’s proprietary VIPower M0 technology.
With the introduction of the VN751PT in PPAK and VN751S in SO-8, ST offers a 60m IPS in smaller and cheaper packages than ever before.
VN751 has a set minimum current limit of 2.5A. That allows it to drive not only valves or inductors, but also lamps. VN751PT (PPAK) is strong enough to drive large inductive loads (up to 2 Henry) at an operating voltage of 24V.

Features

Thermal shut-down;
Shorted load protection;
Undervoltage and overvoltage shut-down;
Loss of ground protection;
Compliant to IEC 61000-4-4 (up to 4kV) C-MOS compatible input;

VN751 is an Intelligent Power Switch designed to drive any kind of load with one side connected to the ground.

It has integrated on-chip:
Voltage clamping, to protect the device against energy spikes;
Active current limitation combined with thermal shut-down, to protect the device and the load against over-current. The device turns-off automatically in case of ground pin disconnection.

Applications

The device is intended for applications in the industrial field (process control, automation, robotic etc.), as well as in fields where low voltage smart power solid state relays give a more reliable and advanced solution. VN751 replaces the old and inefficient electromechanical relays, or the space consuming combination of protection circuitry plus discrete power transistors.
