Low Power, High Speed Transceiver

The ST1480A and ST3485E devices are 3V powered, 15kV ESD protected high-speed transceivers for RS-485 and RS-422 communication. Each part contains one driver and one receiver in half duplex configuration. Designed for multipoint and local area transmission networking, the devices transmit and receive at a guaranteed minimum datarate of 12Mbps. The driver is short-circuit current limited and is protected against excessive power dissipation by a thermal shutdown circuitry that places the driver output into a high impedance status. On top of the above characteristics, the ST1480A employs a true failsafe feature that guarantees a logic high output if both inputs are open circuited, shorted together or in the presence of the termination with no input on the bus.
