| STUSB03E Product Description |
ST’s new STUSB03E is a physical (PHY)
layer transceiver that enables application-specific
ICs (ASICs) and chipsets, with integrated
USB controllers to interface with the physical
USB bus. The STUSB03E is a stand-alone solution
compliant with USB v2.0 requirements and supports
low (1.5Mb/s) and full speed (12Mb/s) mode.
This device implements sharing mode and VBUS
voltage detector features. In sharing mode,
the data lines (D+ and D-) can be shared with
other serial protocols. The VBUS
voltage detector senses the presence of VBUS
voltage on the USB bus. This function is useful
where voltage monitoring is required. STUSB03E
also implements the D+ pull up resistor for
full speed operation. This is a versatile
solution saving space and cost when the internal
pull-up is active and is in line with previous
market solutions when the external one is
needed. This resistor is selectable through
the RSEL pin.
STUSB03E typical application diagram
Compliant
to USB v2.0 for full-speed (12Mbps) and low-speed
(1.5Mps) operation
HBM
= ±14kV on D+, D- lines; 5kV on VBUS
ESD
compliant to IEC-61000-4.2 (level 3) on D+,
D- lines
Separate
I/O supply with operation down to 1.6V
Integrated
3.3V output LDO
Very
low power consumption to meet USB “suspend”
current requirements
QFN16
lead free 3x3mm2 package
No
power supply sequencing requirements
Software
controlled re-enumeration
Integrated
D+ pull-up resistor for FS operation
STUSB03E is recommended wherever a fast data
exchange is needed with plug and play features
and system supply voltages are not able to satisfy
USB requirements. Digital supply voltage down
to 1.6V and low current consumption in operating
and suspend mode make this device suitable for
portable applications where battery life is
a concern. Sharing mode and VBUS voltage detection
allows more complex functions to be implemented.
