fast into mainstream consumer appliances, including portable music
players, car stereos and even multimedia enhanced mobile phones.

The STA01x series, ST’s open-market decoder chips, are
all based on the same system-on-chip platform consisting of
a proprietary 24-bit DSP optimized for audio applications plus
converters and interface functions. Also included on the chip
is embedded code memory preloaded with the software required
for the application. Software available for this platform includes
MP3 decoding, SRS Labs "Wow" stereo enhancement and
ADPCM voice record/playback.
Through its partnerships with leading audio companies, ST maintains
a continually updated library of software for this platform.
