The dual supply translating transceiver is the latest addition
to ST’s VCX product line. The 74VCX1632245 is a dual supply,
16-bit translating transceiver, designed for two-way asynchronous
communication between buses at different supply voltages.
Applications include a wide variety of new systems that
must interface with new, lower voltage technologies and
legacy designs operating at a higher voltage level. The
new device provides a bi-directional interface for buses
operating at mixed voltage levels in the range of 1.4V to
3.6V, giving true signal translation. The 74VCX1632245 supports
designs with the A side inputs at a higher voltage potential.
This new device provides quick and easy direct interface
between the mixed voltage levels present in the same system.
A need for this device can be found in all forms of telecommunications,
portable computer, mobile phones and PDAs. In fact, these
applications use mixed voltage levels extensively to maximize
power savings by using 1.4V/1.8V wherever possible and 2.8V/3.3V
only where necessary. |

Package µTFBGA42 |

The 74VCX1632245, in order to address the rapidly evolving customer requirements of more circuit integration and board miniaturization, is available in the new µTFBGA42 package. With a thickness of only 1.16mm (max.) and ball pitch of 0.5mm,
the µTFBGA42 provides significant improvements over existing packages.The µTFBGA package provides the smallest solution on the market, requiring a board space area of only 14mm2. ST's trend is that more families and functions will be included in this new package.
