L6562A
New industry reference transition mode PFC controller

Product Pages: L6562A L6562

The latest device to enlarge the PFC product family, is the L6562A, a current-mode controller operating in Transition Mode (TM). As an evolution of the L6562, it has become the industry reference for several designs in LCD TVs, AC-DC adapters and chargers, desktop PCs and games, it mantains the pin-to-pin compatibility, both in SO-8 and DIP-8 packages, while offering improved performance and features. Since the new current sense threshold of 1.1V (typ.) allows the use of lower value/lower wattage sense resistors, the overall system efficiency is greatly increased. Moreover, the operating current and the dynamic over voltage protection current have been reduced to further limit the stand-by losses. The new digital blanking time and a reduced propagation delay time allow the functionality at high frequencies near to the zero-crossing, reducing the overall total harmonic distortion. By using ST’s patented Fixed-Off-Time topology, the output power can easily run in excess of 400Watts.
