The L6599 controller integrates a resonant converter control
circuit and high voltage half bridge driver circuits capable
of operating at voltages up to 600V.
Using the new L6599, all the benefits of the resonant topology
(high efficiency and reduced EMI/RFI interference) can be
obtained with a simpler circuit, since all of the controller
features and all the driver circuits are integrated in one
SO-16 or DIP-16 package.
The L6599 includes a voltage controlled oscillator, soft
start, bootstrap diode, undervoltage lockout and a direct
interface with the PFC controller that enables the pre-regulator
to switch off during fault conditions. Operating at up
to 500kHz, it can be used with compact external filter
components, contributing to a further reduction in size.
The half bridge driver section has a current capability
of 300mA source and 800mA sink, which is sufficient to
efficiently drive high Power MOSFET or IGBT discrete transistors
at high frequencies. In addition, the new L6599 can be
operated in burst-mode by using the stand-by pin, facilitating
the converter to comply with energy saving recommendations. |
