Three-phase inverter demo boards based on ST’s SEMITOP®* modules provide customers with an effective and optimized solution for motor control.
These boards offer designers with a complete and flexible tool. Like dedicated platforms these boards provide a solid system under all operating conditions, making them the most efficient solution.
SEMITOP demo board block diagram
The SEMITOP2 and SEMITOP3 demo boards are designed to highlight the advantages of three-phase inverters obtained by using ST’s modules for motor control applications.
The demo system is comprised of a power board and a control board (STEVAL-IHM001V1) connected through a six-in-line interface. This guarantees a very low interference level between power and signal noise, offering at the same time a flexible and highly reliable solution for reference design activities.
The power boards work directly from the AC mains (120V or 220V - thanks to on board voltage doubler) or DC external power supply; the auxiliary low voltage supply is located on the boards and works with applications rated above 50V DC.
The design boards are well-suited to several kinds of applications which require six-step commutation or six-signal PWM (sine wave modulation) output, including:
3-phase AC induction motor control
3-phase PMDC/AC or BLDC/AC (Trapezoidal Driven) motor control
3-phase PMAC or BLAC (Sinusoidal Driven) motor control
