STMicroelectronics (NYSE:STM), one of the world’s largest semiconductor suppliers and a leader in data storage solutions, won a Visionary Company Award at this year’s Storage Visions Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. The special award recognized ST’s dedication to the development and support of state-of-the-art storage technologies utilized in consumer electronics, the media and entertainment industries.

STMicroelectronics offers a complete portfolio of technologies and functional blocks for hard disk drives (HDD), including read/write channels, configurable processors, motor and hard-disk controllers, preamplifiers, memory subsystems and serial interface. At the end of 2007, ST announced two important products that enable substantial advances in data security and hard-disk drive capacity: an embedded crypto-module for advanced HDD data encryption.and a best-in-class 65nm iterative read channel for mobile HDD applications.
The annual Storage Visions conference (a partner program to the International CES) brings together consumer electronics companies, storage technology and system suppliers, content creation companies, system integrators, VARs and market analysts to explore and create visions of the role of digital storage in personal content and entertainment.
