STEVAL-ILB010V12 x 58 W high frequency ballast for T8 fluorescent tubes based on L6562A, L6569, and STL13NM60N in PowerFlat package
The STEVAL-ILB010V1 demonstration board is an electronic ballast capable of driving two 58 W linear T8 fluorescent tubes. It consists of two sections: a power factor correction (PFC) pre-regulator employing the L6562A, and a lamp ballast stage based on the L6569. The purpose of the demonstration is to provide a platform for testing the electrical features of the new PowerFlat™ package, and to allow comparison of its thermal behavior versus the “DPAK” package.
Fluorescent lamps are more and more frequently driven by electronic ballasts rather than electromagnetic ballasts, mainly because fluorescent lamps can produce around 20% more light for the same input power when driven above 20 kHz, instead of 50/60 Hz. Operation at high frequency also eliminates light flickering and audible noise.
