STMicroelectronics Announces Content Protection Support for Premium Interactive-TV Video Content with Adobe Flash Access
ST’s SoC solutions will enable content protection with Adobe Flash Access support in the next generation of connected TVs and set-top boxes
STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM), one of the world’s largest semiconductor companies and a leader in chips for set-top boxes and digital TVs, today introduced out-of-the box content protection for TVs with the latest STB and TV System on Chip (SoC) platform with Adobe® Flash® Access, a complete protection and monetization solution that is a key component of the Adobe Flash Platform.
Flash Access is integrated with Adobe’s AIR for TV platform, which enables OEMs, ODMs, and application and service developers to create and build optimized applications that take advantage of ST’s hardware acceleration and software. Support for Flash Access with a high level of robustness enables ST to lead the TV revolution as it transitions from a passive medium to the center of home entertainment with infinite choices. Featuring a high-performance 3D graphics processor unit and advanced security hardware, ST’s latest generation of set-top boxes and TV SoCs are geared to support consumers’ growing expectations for applications with slick user interfaces and access to premium video content across multiple devices.
“Adobe offers an excellent software platform enabling the creation and delivery of rich applications and video services. When combined with the ST products, we offer the fastest path towards deploying Over-The-Top video services to consumers.
