Webinar | Enhancing Device Security with the STM32L5 Microcontroller

With the rapid expansion of the Internet of Things (IoT) market, device security has become a top requirement as customer information needs to remain confidential and safe from outside attacks.

As a new addition to the STM32 family, the STM32L5 integrates the Arm Cortex-M33 core with embedded TrustZone security technology to provide developers with a “Root of Trust” on which to build a secure application framework. TrustZone offers hardware protection that allows developers to isolate critical security firmware authentication and private information from other parts of the device.

In this session, we will present the STM32L5’s new peripherals, focusing on the TrustZone hardware feature that allows developers to partition a device into two worlds: trusted and non-trusted. We will demonstrate the processing efficiency and class-leading power consumption of the STM32L5, and introduce additions to the STM32 development ecosystem such as Secure Boot Secure Firmware Update (SBSFU) and Secure Firmware Injection (SFI) applications. Finally, we will show you how the STM32L5 can be paired with ST25 NFC/RFID technology to implement digital signature verification applications.

Tim Nakonsut is Staff Product Marketing Engineer supporting the microcontroller portfolio at STMicroelectronics, a position he has held since 2014. He began his career in 2006 as an applications engineer for microcontrollers, MEMS, and touch sensors in consumer and industrial market segments. Tim is from San Jose, CA and graduated from San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering.
