Universal Debug Engine® (UDE®) / Universal Access Device 2next (UAD2next) is a modern, powerful and flexible debug, test and trace platform supporting multi-core microcontrollers of SPC57x/58x Power Architecture® device families. UDE® offers a wide range of features for HLL and assembler level debugging, run-time observation, system visualization and system-level analysis. For debugging of high-end multi-core systems like SPC57x/58x series, UDE® provides outstanding multi-core debugging support, e.g. synchronous run-control, multi-core breakpoints and complete system observation in one consistent user interface. Supplemented by UAD2next, UDE® offers a fast and robust target access via JTAG/OnCE. In order to utilize the Nexus trace capabilities together with the advanced triggering functions of the Sequential Processing Unit (SPU) of SPC57x/58x devices, UDE® provides a rich feature set for trace based debugging and measurement starting from a comfortable configuration of specific trace tasks (Universal Emulation Configurator – UEC) to comprehensive analysis functions like code coverage or profiling. For capturing trace the UAD2next provides up to 512 MB trace memory and supports all state-of-the-art trace interfaces (Nexus parallel trace, sequential AURORA trace) found on specific SPC57x/SPC58x devices. With its open and flexible interface UDE® allows debug and test automation using standard script languages or tool integration with 3rd party tools.
