The STM32Wx MCUs bring wireless connectivity to the STM32 MCU portfolio. The STM32Wx Series cover both Sub-GHz as well as 2.4 GHz frequency range operation. They are easy to use, reliable and perfectly tailored for a wide range of industrial and consumer applications.

STM32Wx solutions are compatible with multiple protocols, from point-to-point & mesh to wide-area networks with outstanding low-current consumptions and built-in security features. STM32Wx wireless MCUs feature a two-in-one architecture built around an MCU and a radio transceiver, in one deeply integrated and highly cost-efficient System-on-Chip. STM32Wx solutions are thus a perfect match between real-time and/or highly power-efficient applications.

The STM32Wx portfolio includes two series, featuring different radio protocols.

STM32WB SERIES

The STM32WB series supports Bluetooth™ 5.0 and IEEE 802.15.4 communication protocols running either individually or concurrently. With a wide and easy-to-use ecosystem, the STM32WB series offers certified free-of-charge radio stacks. To lighten device maintenance operations, the STM32WB’s security features enable end-device “trustability” and anti-cloning features.

STM32WL SERIES

The STM32WL MCU series is the world’s first LoRa®-enabled System-on-Chip. 

The STM32WL is fully open and supports multi-modulation, making it the ideal choice for LPWAN and IoT developments with outstanding ultra-low power consumption without compromising on performance.

Getting started with STM32WB

Purchase a STM32WB55 Nucleo pack

Download the Free STM32CubeWB embedded software package containing the HAL, LL (low-layer) APIs, middleware, Bluetooth™ 5 certified stack and Open-Thread certified stacks. Then install ST’s STM32CubeMX graphical software configuration tool (Free) that supports pinout configuration, code generation and a power consumption calculator. Start with one of the many examples provided or build your own project.

To fine tune your application, or perform radio test or build your own profile  down load and install STM32CubeMonitor-RF tool.
