FlightSense™ – Presence Detection
The presences demo illustrates ST’s user-detection solution based on FlightSense™ Time-of-Flight technology, using the VL53L1 new generation of long-distance ranging sensor

  • Low-power user detection: The ToF sensor measures the distance between the user and the screen, to wake-up or lock the system when a user is approaching or leaving
  • Improved security: PC locked when user leaving
  • Power saving on Windows Hello login: camera started by the ToF sensor only when user approaching

Solutions for Drones
The demo is an excellent example of Motor control solution from ST for both the drone propeller and the Gimbal stabilizing electromechanically the camera attached to the drone.
The solution is based on the following ST products:

  • MEMS (Gyroscope, pressure sensors, accelerometers, magnetometer)
  • Motor drivers (STSPIN32F0, STSPIN233)
  • STM32 microcontrollers

Wireless charging solutions
Implementing the Qi protocol in configurations for phones, tablets and wearables. Transmitter and receiver allow charging between devices

  • 5W and 15W solutions fully compliant with the Qi standard
  • 15 W solution using STWBC-EP transmitter and STWLC33 receiver
  • 2.5W solution for wearables using STWBC-WA transmitter and STWLC33 receiver

Vibration Monitoring for Predictive Maintenance
Inertial and environmental sensors connected via IO-Link are used to detect the state of the motor, making it possible to predict degradation or failure

  • Vibration monitoring with cost-effective MEMS accelerometer over IO-Link industrial connectivity
  • STM32F4 microcontroller performs local real-time frequency/time domain analysis for early motor failure detection

STM32 LoRa node
STM32 LoRa node (based on the B-L072Z-LRWAN1: discovery kit) node efficiently samples temperature data and transmits the data using the LoRa radio to a MultiTech Gateway.

  • This data is then sent via the Senet connectivity platform to AWS. AVS interaction with STM32L0 LoRa node.
  • STM32 power shield and companion STM32CubeMonitor-Power gives detailed insights that would otherwise require an oscilloscope or other expensive test gear.
