Sustainability has been in ST’s DNA for more than 25 years and we are convinced that a sustainable culture is good for the planet, for our people, for our customers, and for our investors.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Discover our Sustainability charter which reflects our longstanding commitment to sustainable development and describes our ambitions and long-term goals.

It identifies four focus areas and 24 sustainable goals (SG) defined for the next six years.

Sustainability strategy

Putting people first

People are our biggest asset. Treating our employees with respect and dignity and providing a safe and healthy working environment are a fundamental part of our culture dating back to our inception in 1987.
Our values, People, Integrity, Excellence are set out in our Company’s Code of Conduct.
We support and promote the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights and all other major international human rights standards, and we were one of the first companies to sign the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) in 2000.
We have been a member of the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), since 2005 and we are committed to implementing the RBA code of conduct. We participate in the collective efforts of the industry to find solutions to our biggest sustainability challenges, such as conflict minerals, working conditions, environmental protection and health & safety. Our Corporate Labor and Human Rights procedure sets the framework for deploying ST’s Labor and Human Rights practices throughout the company.

Protecting the environment

Managing the environmental impact associated with our operations is a key component of our culture, and we believe it contributes to the long-term success of our business. In 2020 we accelerated our ambitions and announced our goal to become carbon neutral by 2027.
Our Environmental Policy and procedures describe how we prevent pollution, reduce consumption of natural resources, reduce waste, and minimize the impacts of our manufacturing operations. Our Policy is in line with international and local regulations, incorporating best practice principles from the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS), as well as the ISO 14001 and 50001 international standards.
Our Policy is supported by our Sustainability charter which outlines our commitments for the six seven years and replaces our 2014-2020 Decalogue (see Decalogue results published in our 2021 Sustainability report)

Augmenting everybody's life

We are convinced that technology plays a key role in helping to solve environmental, social, and societal challenges. Our technologies enable smarter mobility, more efficient power and energy management, and the wide-scale deployment of the Internet of Things and 5G technology. Our Sustainable Technology label assures full responsibility across the product life cycle from responsible sourcing, eco-design, and manufacturing, to usage and end of life.

Acting together

As a global company, we believe we have an important role to play in sustainability and that we are stronger if we act collectively.
We are committed to partnering with suppliers who share our values of respecting people and doing business with integrity and excellence. We also support them to improve their sustainability performance.
We have a longstanding commitment to the communities where we operate and engage our employees in effective local programs that bring a lasting benefit to communities and contribute to mutual enrichment.

Sustainability governance Our Sustainability Council manages our vision and strategy.
Sustainability strategy We regularly update our strategy to ensure that our programs are aligned with our business priorities and our vision to make a positive contribution to people's lives.
Stakeholder engagement We open and maintain dialog with a wide range of stakeholders to understand their expectations and concerns.
Value chain We implement programs to manage our impacts for each step of our value chain.
Involvement in networks Our employees are members of, or participate in, many industry and international organizations.
Sustainability rating and ranking Our corporate behavior and performance are assessed by extra-financial rating agencies.

We annually disclose details of our sustainability performance and objectives in our Sustainability Reports.
