In any modern system, parts of sub-systems – either very close or spaced apart – must be connected to enable the exchange of data and provide the necessary co-ordination to achieve the desired system behavior and performance. A wide range or wired connectivity technologies and standards have been developed over time to meet new requirements or for specific use cases such as USB – and the Type-C and Power Delivery evolution – in personal electronics or IO-Link for factory automation, and especially Ethernet with its global span. ST has a broad portfolio of transceivers and interfaces including standard interfaces (such as RS-232, RS-422, RS-423, RS-485, LVDS, and USB), power line communication, KNX and IO-Link. To speed up your time to market, reference designs and modules are available as well as a complete development ecosystem with software packages, protocol stacks and evaluation boards.
