Most electric vehicle charging stations that you find today in home, office, and private parking lots use AC charging. Charging speed depends on the car battery's capacity, power density, and charging power as well as the power available to the charging infrastructure, which is usually limited to 22 kW. DC charging stations, on the other hand, provide much higher charging capacity. Often deployed near highways or at public charging stations, DC charging stations are ideal solutions when you don't have too much time to recharge the car batteries. DC charging is also making its way into home charging stations with charging capacity up to 40KW, also called wallboxes, offering new possibilities for customers since it allows not only fast charging but also bidirectional charging where you can reuse available energy in the car batteries to load home battery storage systems.
