It can be difficult to manage all the data streaming in from the many sensors streaming in from an IoT node, not to mention the device management with firmware upgrades, new feature deployment, etc…
These problems, however, can be managed far better if the node is able to handle communicate directly with a centralized cloud service. Then all data are analyzed quickly and in real-time, allowing enterprises to get the maximum benefit.
This solution aids in the creation of smart connected low-power devices. It enables users to develop a wide diversity of applications by exploiting low-power communication with AWS cloud servers and its native services including standard Firmware Over The Air (FOTA) updates.
The solution is based on an STM32L4+ microcontroller and an extensive selection of ST MEMS sensors (detection, environmental awareness) and low-power multilink communication (Bluetooth® Low Energy, Sub-GHz).

The solution is based on the B-L4S5I-IOT01A STM32 Discovery kit. The kit is an STM32L4+ microcontroller board that contains an extensive selection of ST MEMS sensors, an STSAFE-A110 secure element, Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi® modules, and an NFC tag with printed antenna. The board allows low-power communication with cloud servers.
Associated with X-CUBE-AWS STM32Cube Expansion Pack and its set of libraries and application examples, this solution simplifies and accelerates development of IoT-Node connectivity and security.
This package provides a qualified port of FreeRTOS™ and supports AWS native services including standard Firmware Over The Air (FOTA) updates. It handles interactions with the on-board STSAFE-A110 secure element, including taking care of AWS IoT Core Multi-Account Registration and the assignment of security-critical operations during boot-up sequence, device authentication, and OTA firmware verification.
The solution board embeds a set of sensors: the HTS221 capacitive digital relative-humidity and temperature sensor, LIS3MDL high-performance 3-axis magnetometer, LSM6DSL 3D accelerometer and 3D gyroscope, LPS22HB absolute digital output barometer, VL53L0X Time-of-Flight and gesture-detection sensor, and two MP34DT01 digital omnidirectional microphones.
