Free powerful electrical simulation software for SMPS and analog ICs
Turn power supply specs into risk-free solutions
It allows the creation of new schematics using ST models or the export of eDesignSuite SMPS or simulation of analog ICs from predefined ST schematics and test benches.
The new eDSim version adds VIPERGAN devices and PFC controllers to its selection of AC-DC converters, and new LED solutions to its DC-DC range, as well as broader coverage of discrete devices with new ST silicon carbide (SiC), and high- and low-voltage silicon MOSFETs. A variety of diodes and rectifiers, AC switch thyristors and triacs, op amps, comparators and current sense amplifiers are present in the embedded ST model library, being updated continuously.
The tool is a custom version of the SIMPLIS/SIMetrix simulation environment, paired with ST model components and integrated into the eDesignSuite workspace.
eDSim achieves high-speed convergence thanks to a new component modeling approach.
Devices are modeled using Piecewise Linear (PWL) segments, increasing accuracy and avoiding convergence issues.
For switching power systems, eDSim's PWL modeling and simulation techniques offer superior convergence compared to SPICE.
Simulations are conducted using accurate IC models, ensuring trusted and realistic results.
These results are presented in easy-to-read formats, including graphs (Bode plots, steady-state or transient response, and efficiency) and tables to suit different needs.
