BASH® Technology

BASH® technology is Indigo's flagship technology, a proven class of amplification answering the market's need for efficiency without compromising sound quality.

Read more about BASH Technology from Indigo's web site.

BASH® is a successful marriage of high efficiency, low distortion, high bandwidth, low EMI (read more about EMI performance), and sound quality resulting in the most cost effective solution.

See an example of how it works with the STA575 Bash power amplifier.

BASH® is a patented High Efficiency Power Amplifier circuit topology that has taken the best of Class D and Class AB and created a new class of its own.

How does it work?

The STA575 power amplifier generates the reference signal which is fed to the STABP01 digital processor. The STABP01 determines the appropriate on/off events and generates a gate pulse for the BASH® converter. The converter turns this gate pulse into a power signal that feeds the power amplifier’s main rails. The voltage gain of the converter is adjusted so that the amplifier’s supply rails are just above the amplifier’s output. This translates into a constant voltage drop across the output transistors.

BASH® EMI performance
The BASH® EMI performance is inherent in its design. BASH® has only one switching stage. The BASH® converter can be shared in a multi-channel configuration, thereby only having to deal with one switching stage instead of multiple ones. Note that in a BASH® amplifier, the EMI containment is not in the signal path, making it possible to meet the most stringent requirements.

A BASH® amplifier has its load directly connected to a power amplifier. This gives BASH® the advantage in both linear frequency response and EMI performance. BASH® can use lower switching speeds and slower rise and fall times without compromising the amplifiers performance.
