Photovoltaic String and Central Inverter
The string and central inverter architecture represents the traditional grid-connected photovoltaic system. It is composed of three main functional blocks connected as shown in the picture.
- The junction box, present in each solar panel, implements the important bypass functionality.
- The string combiner box implements the protection and monitoring of the strings.
- The inverter implements the power conversion stages (DC-DC with MPPT and DC-AC), the communication capability and the connection to the AC grid.
