The M48Z32V comes in a 44-pin SOIC (SO44)
which is derived from ST's SOH44 SNAPHAT® IC. Since
the M48Z32's battery connection is bonded out to the standard
IC pins (on the sides of the package) and does not require the
SNAPHAT
battery top, the connections on the ends of the package (for the
SNAPHAT top) are present, but not used. The M48Z32V is intended
for 3.3V (±10%) applications, and operates over the commercial
temperature range (0 to 70°C).
The M48Z32V incorporates Battery Switchover and Write Protect
circuits along with 256Kbits of low-power SRAM all into a monolithic
IC. Drawing only 200 nano-amperes (typical @40°C), the M48Z32V
can achieve 10 years of battery life on only 18mAh of battery
capacity.
For systems already containing lithium coin cell batteries, the
M48Z32V is a perfect fit. Not only does the M48Z32V provide a
low-profile NVRAM solution, but it is priced to reduce cost. With
this savings, the M48Z32V will be the best NVRAM solution for
many applications.
