MOSFETs for CFL Following the worldwide need to conserve energy the compact flourescent market continues to grow rapidly. In many low cost solutions manufacturers are choosing simple self-oscillating circuits that use popular power bipolar devices, such as the STBV or BUL series. However, in applications using drivers such as L6569, MOSFETs are chosen because they are a more effective solution.
Our devices offer a high level of efficiency compared to traditional ones, as well as low cost without sacrificing performance or reducing lifetime. ST already has a strong position with major customers and new devices are being introduced in order to maintain our leadership in this section.

New Industry Standards

Due to the increase in silicon efficiency in the NK series, (SuperMESH) the RDS(on)* area in the “NK” series has been reduced. This means that both RDS(on) and the silicon area can be reduced, with consequent lower power dissipation.


The New 450V MOSFET Series

The new MOSFETs for CFL at 450V are the STS1DNC45 in a double island version of SO-8 for surface mounting, and the STQ1NC45R-AP in TO-92. They join the performance of the NK series at 450V devices also with the flexibility of small packages.
