Mitigating our environmental impact for tradeshows in the US

How ST achieves 100% carbon compensation.

Our carbon neutral initiative

Our carbon neutral initiative

At ST, we are committed to mitigating our environmental impact through various initiatives, such as selecting suppliers with compatible sustainability approaches and encouraging sustainable travel options for our employees.

This year, we are taking a step further to make our participation at tradeshows in the United States fully carbon compensated. In collaboration with the certified organization Ecoevents, we are completely offsetting our carbon emissions by investing in projects that reduce or capture an equivalent amount of carbon to that generated by our participation in the each event.

A three-step metholodogy

#1 - Data collection

#1 - Data collection

ST evaluates, collects, and consolidates the emissions related to the event in the following areas, as pre-defined in the Ecoevents methodology:

  • Event location
  • Food and beverages consumed by event participants, as well as overnight stays
  • Mobility used for setting up the venue
  • Energy and heating used at the event, and waste generated
  • Materials used for the event
  • Other activities impacting the carbon footprint

#2 - Carbon footprint calculation

#2 - Carbon footprint calculation

Calculating the carbon footprint, expressed in tons of CO2 equivalent, is critical to assess our environmental impact and to identify opportunities to reduce it.

The calculations established by Ecoevents are based on the sources of the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, combined with several event-specific variables, such as the number of participants.

#3 - Carbon compensation

#3 - Carbon compensation

The tons of CO2 equivalent are compensated through the purchase of carbon credits.

ST participates in reforestation initiatives, which allows us to fully offset our carbon emissions linked to our participation at tradeshows in the US beginning with Sensors Converge 2025 (June 24-26)  moving ST closer to our goal of carbon neutrality.

ST's commitment to carbon neutrality

We aim to be carbon neutral on scope 1 & 2 and partially scope 3 by 2027.

Our roadmap includes the reduction of our direct and indirect greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and the sourcing of 100% renewable energy.
