What do we expect from our suppliers?
Ethical and responsible business
When partnering with ST, we ask suppliers to acknowledge the ST Code of Conduct for business ethics and commit to complying with the latest version of the RBA Code of Conduct, which we have adopted as our supplier code of conduct, and to extending these standards throughout their supply chain.
Effective grievance reporting
In line with the RBA Code of Conduct, we ask our suppliers to provide a safe, anonymous channel for their workers to raise any concerns related to ethical, legal, or compliance matters and share feedback without fear of retaliation.
At any time, our suppliers, their workers, and all our stakeholders can also use our independent speak up channel ST's Ethics Hotline.
Transparency
We believe open and honest communication builds trust and ensures compliance with ethical, social, environmental, and quality standards. It also helps manage risks, improve performance, and meet customer expectations.
Transparency includes:
Sharing product and material information across the supply chain to ensure traceability, responsible sourcing, and regulatory compliance.
Fully cooperating with audits and assessments, providing necessary documentation and access to facilities.
Quality and reliability
To ensure the highest quality standards for our products, we require suppliers to hold certifications such as ISO9001 and IATF16949, or ISO17025. Beyond audits, we collaborate closely to prevent issues and drive continuous improvements. Additionally, we steadily enhance our material and supplier management systems to maintain excellence.
Our Supplier Quality Portal streamlines supplier processes, improves communication, and centralizes information on a unified platform.
The portal is accessible only if you are a material supplier with a Supplier Quality Portal account.
Supply chain risk-based
due diligence
We conduct due diligence — including risk and impact assessments — to ensure a responsible, sustainable, and resilient supply chain throughout the business relationship, from onboarding to ongoing monitoring. Based on these assessments, suppliers may be included in specific due diligence activities, accompanied by training sessions for suppliers to attend.
Committed to continuous improvement, ST experts regularly evaluate supplier performance across key domains via a comprehensive questionnaire, with quality and sustainability as focus areas. This process helps identify gaps, drive corrective actions, and foster ongoing improvements, creating value for both ST and our suppliers.
Social and environmental responsabilities
Our approach to social responsibility is guided by ST’s Corporate Social Responsibility Policy and Corporate Labor and Human Rights Procedure. We also prioritize long-term partnerships with suppliers who uphold strong environmental standards, as outlined in our Global Environmental Policy.
To manage social, environmental, health, and safety risks, we encourage ISO and OHSAS certifications. Learn more about our sustainability goals and performance in ST annual integrated report and Sustainability charter.
To reach our ambition and long-term sustainability targets, ST has deployed the following supply chain sustainability programs:
Supply chain RBA due diligence
Each year, we assess all tier 1 suppliers for sustainability risks. Those at high risk must complete the RBA program by providing a commitment letter, a self-assessment questionnaire, and undergoing an RBA audit with follow-up to ensure they meet sustainability standards and effectively address any non-compliance.
Supply chain decarbonization
Further to our carbon neutrality goal to be reached by 2027, we aim to decarbonize our supply chain by working closely with our highest-emitting suppliers through ST's Decarbonization Charter. We encourage them to publicly report their GHG emissions annually, set reduction roadmaps, and share progress.
Responsible minerals sourcing
Sourcing responsible minerals is a top priority for ST. Our goal is to ensure that the metals in our supply chain are responsibly sourced and conflict-free.
Recognizing excellence and innovation
To promote excellence, we recognize our top suppliers for their products, materials, capital equipment, services, and business practices.
We encourage collaboration on innovative projects that keep us at the forefront of technology and support our sustainability goals. We also expect suppliers to be open to innovation and agile in adapting to changing market needs with flexible solutions.
