ST’s Catania site hosts front-end manufacturing, electrical wafer sort (EWS), R&D, labs, and product design. It is one of the largest centers in the world for the development of power and smart power semiconductors. With a workforce of over 5000 employees, it plays an important role in the local economy and community.
Among the technologies developed at ST’s Catania site, Silicon Carbide (SiC) exhibits characteristics that make it particularly suitable for the manufacturing of high-voltage power devices. It plays a strategic role in electric mobility, industrial electrification, and renewable energy. In May 2024, we announced ST SiC Campus in Catania, which will integrate all steps in the production flow on one site.
Every year, ST's Catania site hosts the regional selections of the RoboCup Junior international robotics competition. This challenge aims at promoting robotics among young students with a key focus on education. Employees from the Catania and Palermo sites actively contribute to this competition, either as members of the jury or in the organization of the event.
We offer employees' families the opportunity to visit ST's Catania site through dedicated tours, providing insights into our activities and explanations about semiconductor production processes. Additionally, a showroom has been set up where employees and external visitors can experience firsthand the evolution of the technologies and products developed at the site.
When people contribute, perform and get results, we feel they should be rewarded.

In 2024, once again, ST participated in the Corri Catania race. Our employees purchased 1,950 T-shirts and joined the "people of the white shirts" for a run-walk to show their solidarity. This year's project was "Officina del Cuore," a cardiology area within the medical clinic of the Italian Red Cross, aiming to offer prevention and treatment services to economically disadvantaged individuals.
ST has engaged in a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with ERG, a leading European independent producer of energy from renewable sources, for the supply of renewable electricity to our sites in Italy. The agreement covers our two high-volume manufacturing sites in Agrate and Catania, as well as multiple R&D, design, and sales and marketing sites.
