The global acceptance of LED lighting systems makes them an ideal place to add intelligent sensors as part of the Internet of Things (IoT). Lighting sensors with wired or wireless connectivity in lighting systems enables improved energy efficiency. Energy efficiency is greatly improved by adding proximity and motion sensors as well as light and infrared (IR) sensors to lighting systems. The use of these sensors to switch off or dim lights when the area is unoccupied or when the ambient light level is sufficient can lead to significant energy-savings. Differentiated lighting solutions to improve energy efficiency are increasingly required in home, office and industrial environments.
