ST’s discrete surge suppressors, or Trisils™, protect sensitive equipment against lightning strikes and power crossing. They support applications such as power-line modems, Ethernet, POTs, CO/CP, set-top boxes, gateways and telecom lines.
They feature:
- Compliance with the highest telecommunications standards such as GR-1089 core, ITU-T-K20/K21, VDE0433, VDE0878, IEC 61000-4-5, and FCC part 68
- Ultralow-voltage versions down to 8 V, suitable for protecting low-voltage transformers in T1/E1 and Ethernet links without saturation
- High-voltage versions up to 400 V to prevent firing with power crossing, so lowering maintenance costs in remote central offices by saving PTC cost and fuse replacement
- Availability in low (LC) and micro (MC) capacitance levels to be compatible with digital transmissions such as ADSL2 and ADSL2+
A new generation of discrete surge suppressors will soon be available, offering additional cost savings.
