Rehab, exoskeleton and prosthetics controller, sensing and connectivity

The controller unit runs the device. It captures the wearer’s movement and intent, senses the limb’s position and surroundings, decides how much to assist, drives the powered joints, and links to clinician systems. It also sets adaptive assistance by adjusting resistance, speed, and range of motion to the user in real time.

Controller, sensing and connectivity main features

Control and processing

  • Real-time joint control and actuation: STSPIN32G4, STM32G4
  • Application processing and adaptive assistance: STM32U5, STM32C5, STM32H7, with STM32Cube.AI

Sensing

  • Motion, position and force: LSM6DSV16X, LSM6DSR
  • Movement intention from muscle and neural signals, for prosthetics: biosignal analog front end, ST1VAFE6AX
  • Obstacle detection and mapping, for prosthetics: imaging sensors

Connectivity

  • To clinician systems and companion apps: Bluetooth LE, Wi-Fi

Safety and security

  • Fault detection and safe states: STM32 safety features, STSPIN
