Product overview

Description

The M74HC42 is a high-speed CMOS BCD to decimal decoder manufactured with silicon gate C2MOS technology.

A BCD code applied to the four inputs A-D selects one of ten decimal outputs Y0to Y9. All outputs are HIGH when binary codes greater than nine are applied to the inputs. This device can also be used as a 1 of 8 decoder when the D input is assigned as an inhibit input. This device is useful for code conversion, address decoding, memory selection, demultiplexing or readout decoding.

All inputs are equipped with protection circuits against static discharge and transient excess voltage.

  • All features

    • High speed: tpd= 14 ns (typ.) at VCC= 6 V
    • Low power dissipation: ICC= 4 μA (max.) at TA= 25 °C
    • High noise immunity: VNIH= VNIL= 28% VCC(min.)
    • Symmetrical output impedance: |IOH| = IOL= 4 mA (min.)
    • Balanced propagation delays: tPLH≅ tPHL
    • Wide operating voltage range: VCC (OPR)= 2 to 6 V
    • Pin and function compatible with 74 series 42
