Automotive exterior lighting systems including turn signals, headlights and taillights are a standard fitting in any vehicle. To enhance safety and comfort for drivers and passengers and enable more sophisticated body design, vehicles are increasingly equipped with high-intensity discharge lamps (HID or xenon) and light-emitting diodes (LED) in adaptive front lighting (AFL) systems.

Smart headlamp systems require the use of high-efficiency LED drive solutions, with advanced diagnostics. Advanced systems, implementing dynamic lighting, also require headlamp leveling and bend lighting control.

ST’s automotive portfolio includes a wide selection of high- and low-side drivers for exterior lighting systems from higher power “front beam” lamps to daytime running lights (DRL) and low-power loads used by lateral and rear lights as well as advanced regulators and cost optimized microcontrollers to enable building high-efficiency and reliable lighting modules.

ESD and battery protection devices complement the offer, to cover all design requirements.
