Passive safety

A passive safety system helps protect vehicle occupants after a crash has started or when an impact is unavoidable. It is designed to reduce injuries by managing impact forces and improving occupant protection. Typical elements are airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, and crash sensors. ST proposes an integrated “all-in-one” system-on-chip that receives signals from sensors and, within milliseconds, triggers protection devices. In our portfolio, you can find everything from cost-optimized entry-level models to high-end centralized safety domain controllers, all while meeting the latest ISO 26262 functional safety and ASIL targets.

A range of scalable solutions
