Companion body main processing, sensing and connectivity

A modular robot body links its head, arms, joints, and wheel drives while bringing sensing and connectivity together under central processing. The main processor coordinates the robot’s body-level behavior, the sensing that tracks the robot's movement and surroundings, and the wireless links to phones, apps, services or health monitoring devices. Processing runs the behavior and the on-device AI, sensing provides orientation, obstacle detection and awareness of people nearby, and connectivity keeps the robot in touch while personal data stays protected.

Processing

  • Behavior and interaction, on an application processor: STM32MP1/MP2

  • Real-time control and always-on sensing: STM32 MCUs

  • On-device AI for voice, gesture and context: STM32N6 with NPU, in-sensor MLC and ISPU

Sensing

  • Motion and orientation: MEMS IMU, accelerometer

  • Presence, proximity and surrounding: ToF, IR, pressure and temperature

Connectivity

  • To phones, apps, digital health devices: Bluetooth LE, Wi-Fi
  • To networks and services: cellular, NFC for pairing, ST60
  • Wired interfaces: CAN, RS232/RS485, and Ethernet connect the head, joints, and wheel drives

Power Management

  • Conversion, regulation, monitoring, and protection circuits distribute power from battery packs and wired charging sources.

Security

  • Authentication, secure boot and storage: STSAFE, ST4SIM, secure EEPROM
