Ethernet transceivers are not specified against IEC 61000 surges, so they must be protected. Different standards can be applied since Ethernet lines are used in various applications including computer, multimedia, industrial, home automation, and telecom segments.
ST’s Ethernet line protection devices feature:
- Compliance to telecom standard IEC 61000-4-2 and IEC 61000-4-5 for lightning surges
- Internet speed support of 1G Ethernet, 10/100 and 10G Ethernet
- Primary and secondary protection either on the RJ45 or on the transceiver side, depending on the surge standard required
In addition, they meet all surge standards for each of the applications listed above.
