Kitchen range hoods, once an appliance performing only basic ventilation functionality, have today become an iconic center of kitchens design. They still must ensure powerful ventilation to remove smoke and odors from the air effectively, but now also with a focus on energy efficiency and quiet operation. They must feature appealing user interfaces, elegant lighting and smart functionalities such as connectivity to enable networking with a home area network (HAN).

To help design efficient solutions for control of the ventilation motor and the other types of motors found in range hoods (e.g. 3-phase brushless, universal, etc.), ST offers a wide range of STM32 microcontrollers, power MOSFETs, IGBTs and intelligent power modules (IPMs), triacs and AC switches together with high-voltage gate drivers, as well as a complete set of hardware and software evaluation and development tools.

In addition, ST offers a rich portfolio of wired and wireless connectivity and LED lighting solutions, along with touchscreen controllers and environmental sensors, to implement the smart features required in today's kitchen range hoods.
