The increasing demand for engines with reduced fuel costs has pushed car manufacturers to develop systems running with alternative fuels. The internal combustion engines using liquid petroleum gas (LPG) and natural gas (CNG) are well-proven technologies and typically have lower emissions and lower fuel costs than gasoline and diesel vehicles, not to mention tax and mobility incentives in many countries. These are the reasons for which Interest in CNG and LPG vehicles is growing globally. CNG and LPG vehicles are often bi-fuelled cars with a spark-ignition engine in which alternative fuels work in co-operation with gasoline. ST has in its portfolio a wide range of products for management of CNG and LPG engines.
