Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

We firmly believe that we create value from our diversity by ensuring that all employees reach their highest potential in an environment that respects and harnesses the richness of our differences for both individual and collective success. We are convinced that Diversity, Equity and Inclusion enable innovation and stakeholder engagement as well as personal and company growth.

Our aim is that at ST you can be the true version of yourself, meaning that we foster an inclusive culture where you can reveal your true identity. Indeed, your difference is our strength.

We maintain a culture free of discrimination and harassment, where individuals are treated with respect and dignity, independent of religion, ethnicity, gender, nationality, political opinion, sexual orientation and gender identity, physical challenges or other characteristics. We show appropriate consideration and respect for each other, and enforce a zero-tolerance approach to incidents of discrimination or harassment of any kind.

Our values, People, Integrity, Excellence are set out in our Company’s Code of Conduct.

We foster a diverse and inclusive work environment by

  • maintaining zero tolerance for discrimination (read our Corporate Labor and Human Rights procedure about fair treatment, anti-harassment and non-discrimination)
  • recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce
  • ensuring equity
  • fostering an inclusive culture

At ST, women represent 34% of the workforce and 27% of the engineers and managers we recruit each year. This is a real challenge in an industry where the number of graduate women engineers tends to be much lower than men. Women are essential to our company’s success. We value their contribution and have zero tolerance for any kind of discrimination. That is why our objective is to safeguard equity in development, equity in career opportunities, and equal remuneration.

Our objective is to safeguard equity in development, equity in career opportunities, and equal remuneration. Following the global rollout of our pay gap index, in 2021 we recorded an overall gender pay ratio of 100%, averaged across job grades and normalized by country. However, there are still some gaps at specific job levels. More information in our 2022 Sustainability report.
