Labor and human rights are at the core of our people values. From the early 2000s, we have progressively enhanced our human rights due diligence by adopting the highest international standards such as the RBA Code of Conduct, conducting the most stringent audits and risk assessments, to ensure that working conditions are safe, and that workers are treated with respect and dignity.
ST was one of the first companies to sign the United Nations Global Compact in 2000.
82% of employees covered by RBA audits
We are committed to identifying and assessing the adverse impacts our operations can have on human rights. We do this through rigorous and continued monitoring of priority topics in our own operations, such as working hours, prevention of forced labor, non-discrimination, freedom of association, minimum age requirements and fair wages, taking into account the associated risks of the regions in which we operate. To ensure that all of our employees are treated with respect and dignity we regularly upgrade our policies and procedures. ST’s Code of Conduct and related ‘speak up’ culture ensures employees are aware of how to raise grievances. We adopted the code of conduct of the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), formerly the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC) in 2005. We follow the standards of the version 6 of the RBA code of conduct and monitor our own operations and suppliers using a three-step process of commitment, assessment and audit. In addition to covering our own employees, we also address labor and human rights in our Supply Chain.
