Zonal architecture

Driven by the requirement of saving weight and cost, several car makers are moving from traditional distributed microcontroller architecture to the new zonal-control one. This evolution will reduce wire‑harness size, improve scalability, and optimize the number of MCUs. It is particularly well suited to domains with topological symmetry, such as body, powertrain, and chassis, or in application as Smart Power Distribution. The Zonal Control Unit (ZCU) can act as AI edge terminal. It is close enough to facilitate the control and coordination of sensors and actuators connected to the zonal MCU.

Products and solutions

Stellar 32-bit automotive MCUs

The Stellar platform consists of multiple series of automotive microcontrollers built around a versatile Arm®-based architecture. The Stellar P and Stellar G series are designed to support real-time virtualization of multi-ASIL ECUs. Stellar E series addresses the needs for electrification. All series boast an extensive array of I/Os and peripherals, ready for modern car ECU solutions. Stellar P & G product lines include xMemory, build on ST PCM technology, providing over 2x the memory density versus other eNVM technologies. Stellar with xMemory offers more headroom for today and future application needs.

Automotive door-zone controllers

L99DZ1xx door-zone controllers integrate power-management and failsafe circuitry previously implemented using external devices.

The series includes the L99DZ100G/GP actuator driver for front-door applications and L99DZ120 actuator driver for rear-door controls. This complete solution enables designers to save space as well as boost reliability and energy efficiency. With the added advantage of software compatibility between the previous generation devices, they also help simplify development and accelerate time to market.

These door-zone system ICs also offer an advanced high-speed CAN (HS-CAN) interface supporting selective wake-up (ISO 11898-6), LIN 2.2a (SAE J 2602) interface and control blocks as well as protection and supervision features.

Configurable multi-channel switch for advanced 48V automotive

The L98GD8 is a groundbreaking 8-channel MOSFET gate driver designed for 48V automotive power systems. Its configurable output enables seamless control of H-bridges for DC motors or peak-and-hold strategies for small valves.

With advanced diagnostics, SPI configurability, and robust protection features, it ensures safety and reliability in demanding automotive applications.
