High voltage converters

ST’s high-voltage AC-DC converters combine an advanced pulse width modulation (PWM) controller with a high-voltage switch in a single package. This monolithic integration simplifies switch mode power supply (SMPS) design while reducing PCB space. Our portfolio covers application power solutions ranging from a few watts up to 100 W.

Most popular topologies, including quasi-resonant, flyback, and buck configurations are supported, covering both isolated and non-isolated designs. By minimizing external component count and integrating robust protection features, these converters help designers achieve the highest reliability targets at the lowest system cost.

VIPerGaN series: The peak of power density

The VIPerGaN family marks the transition to 700 V GaN HEMT technology, delivering 50 W to 100 W output power in ultra-compact QFN packages (5x6 mm).

  • Superior performance: High switching frequencies and efficiency (>95%) enable smaller, lighter PCBs and minimized magnetics.
  • Seamless design: All devices are pin-to-pin compatible, allowing fast power scalability without redesigning the board.

The 65W device is also available in SO16n package.

VIPerPlus series: Reliability and efficiency

Integrating an 800 V avalanche-rugged MOSFET, the VIPerPlus series is the benchmark for low standby consumption ( << /span>4 mW at 230 VAC).
