ST has developed a complete range of antenna protection devices dedicated to protecting the RF interface chipset connected immediately after the antenna.
Antenna systems are either connected externally or placed in ESD-exposed locations, so they naturally capture and transmit ESD strikes, which are high-frequency signals, to RF components downstream. The higher integration of electronics devices leads to the miniaturization of components and to reduced transistor gate oxide thickness. The solid protection from ST’s antenna protection devices ensures safe operation of the electronics components, and even more the RF components, against ESD strikes.
Each RF interface has specific requirements, so to simplify selection, antenna protection devices are categorized as follows:
- FM protection
- NFC protection
- RF protection
